
Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation
Brief History
With the mission statement of “We pledge to Empower and Uplift Every Burgess leaving No One Behind”, the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation envisions itself to be a responsible, dynamic, people-focused organization dedicated to providing efficient, effective services and facilities to the communities it serves.
The origins of this Corporation can be traced back to the Municipal Corporations (Amendment) Act No. 8 of 1992 which merged some of the regions to make nine Regional Corporations, reducing the number of Municipal Corporations from 18 (eighteen) to (14) fourteen.

Eddie Hart Development Project
The Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation announced the upgrade of the Eddie Hart Recreational Ground in December 2024.
Phase 1 of the Eddie Hart Development Project has already begun with the goal of the project being to transform the area into a premier community hub over the next 18 months. Read more here.

Agricultural Training Seminar
As part of an initiative toward building a resilient future for agriculture in the region, the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation teamed up with the MarVista Institute for Agriculture, Training and Development and Republic Bank Limited to support local farmers.
Delivered as a seminar training event in September 2024, this effort focused on equipping farmers with the tools and knowledge to protect their crops from the harsh effects of climate change, including floods, droughts, heat, and the pests and diseases that come with them.

African Emancipation Day Celebrations
The Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation joined the rest of the country in observing and celebrating African Emancipation Day, on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024.
The corporation came together for a day filled with vibrant drumming, captivating folk performances, and the joyous crowning of the Emancipation King & Queen 2024. The energy was infectious as everyone enjoyed delicious traditional African food and drinks, celebrating a rich heritage and culture!

Town Hall Meeting
As part of its goal to shape the future and foster collaboration for the betterment of their community, on July 24th, 2024, the Corporation listened to and engaged in a dynamic exchange of ideas at the Fourth Town Hall Meeting in Santa Rosa! Some of the key agencies that were hosted included T&TEC, WASA, Sport TT, Ministry of Works and Transport - Drainage Division, TTPS and the Land Settlement Agency. Also present was Member of Parliament of Arima the esteemed Minister Penelope Beckles from the Ministry of Planning and Development.
